There is no way to indicate a size when ordering this item. I ordered these not realizing that what I would receive would be EXTRA SMALL tippet rings. They are Climax Tippet Rings, but they are so small that I can not use them. You will be hard pressed to tie this to a 5x leader and then tie on 6x tippet. That's how small they are. Had I known this I would not have ordered them. I'll mark this as a learning experience that will not be repeated. With all due respect to the above reviewer "James A. Holley", I couldn't disagree with him more. These rings are in fact very small, but that is by design. However, the rings are significantly larger in their Inside Diameter (ID) than the eye of almost any dry, wet, or nymph flies. It was VERY easy to use these rings on several 4x tippets and their matching leaders. I mainly use Orvis Mirage Fluorocarbon Leader and Tippets, as Nymphing in small streams and tail waters is my primary technique/location. (Approximately 80% of the time)I have not tried these rings with Dry flies as of yet, but I do not expect to see any issues when I do as these rings do not cause ANY surface disturbance outside of what you would see with just a leader and tippet. With proper dry fly casting techniques, these rings should not be an issue. Fantastic product! I have fished for three days on the same leader using tippet rings as a tie on point for my fluorocarbon tippet. This rig has caught over 40 fish on both wet and dry flies using 5x and 6x tippet. I see no issues using the rings for dry fly fishing as they are so small that they are easily supported by the surface tension of the water. I also don't notice any presentation issues using them for dry fly fishing. The line turns over nicely and I see no hinging effect. They are equally effective for nymphing. They make it incredibly fast and easy to tie on new tippet material without shortening the length of the leader. I see no downside to these things. I have noted that most fly shops do not carry them. I suspect this is because there use greatly deminishes ones need to buy more leaders. |

Product Description
Connecting the tippet and leaders through the ring will allow you to change the tippet as often as you wish without shortening the leader. No longer will you need to replace leaders when switching from large streamers to a # 16 dry-fly, just cut off the 2X, tie on some 5X with an Improved Clinch Knot, attach fly, and go fish. Tippet rings are incredibly strong and very light. When attached to your leader, they'll float, or they'll follow the leader down if your're using a sinking leader or a fluorocarbon tippet. 10 rings per pkg.
